Synopsis

Since her father's suicide NESS has devoted her life to saving the chronically depressed at a suicide hotline. Her approach to chasing a perfect life has gotten her a soon-to-be fiancé, an emotionally rewarding job, and a close-knit network of people. Everything is how she dreamed it would be when she gets an unusual call from a woman named GRACE claiming to be a vampire.

In disbelief, Ness breaks her own rules and laughs. They joke and have a connection of true vulnerability. When Grace suddenly ends the call, implying she’ll try to take her life again, Ness starts to obsess and worry. This stranger is all she can think about. She doubts her sanity when she sees Grace everywhere, but nowhere.

The two women embark on a dangerous love story. The more Grace reveals about her life on the outskirts of society, the more Ness understands. Ness agrees to help Grace find a way to end her existence, but she secretly hopes their connection will make her reconsider.

She tries to convince Grace to be with her, even become immortal herself. Grace doesn’t know the rules of her own making; she doesn’t understand what can pass on her condition or end it. Just when the young lovers are culminating their connection, they run into the only thing able to take a vampire’s life: another immortal.

Inspiration

This YA, romance story covers trigger topics such as depression, suicide, grief, sexual and emotional identity in an escapist way through a vampire tale with new rules.

It's very loosely based on a dear friend of mine, who took his own life. He happened to deal with dark topics with a spectacular sense of humor. I wrapped both his smile and depression into a shiny piece of paranormal fantasy, but if you get triggered by those topics, this may not be the story for you. If you happen to deal with depression or experience suicidal thoughts, please call the

We all know the old story of Dracula. This couldn't be further from those old troves as it plays with a more scientific approach to immortality but still holds true to old folk tales that have surfaced over the centuries.

All artwork is a combination of human and AI-created. I didn't want to get stuck entirely behind the times:). It is NOT rated mature at the moment, since it's paranormal.
